The things people ask before they come

Do I need a firearm licence to shoot here?

Not for a supervised introductory session. A range officer stays with you throughout and the club provides the shotgun and ammunition. If you want to shoot regularly or compete, you will need your own licensed shotgun in time — we will explain how that works when you visit. [Club to confirm.]

I have never held a shotgun. Is that a problem?

No. Most people who book a first visit have never shot before. You will be briefed on safety, shown how to stand, mount and swing, and then coached one-to-one through your first clays.

What does a first visit cost?

R650 per person, which covers 25 clays, the loan of a shotgun, cartridges, eye and ear protection, and a range officer with you throughout. [Club to confirm.]

How long does it take?

Allow about two hours from arrival to leaving, including the safety briefing and sign-in.

Is there a minimum age?

16 years, or 12 with a parent or guardian present. [Club to confirm.]

What should I wear?

Closed shoes, a collared or crew-neck shirt that will not catch the gun stock, and a peaked cap. The ranges are outdoors and open, so dress for the weather.

Do I need to book, or can I just arrive?

Please book. A range officer has to be free to take you out, so we ask for notice rather than turning people away at the gate.

Can we come as a group?

Yes — group and corporate shoots are a large part of what the club does. Tell us how many people and roughly when, and we will send a quotation.

Is it safe?

Every shoot runs under a range officer, every visitor is briefed before touching a firearm, and eye and hearing protection are worn on the ranges at all times. Our range rules are published in full on this site.

What happens if it rains?

The ranges are outdoors and shoots run in most weather, but we will contact you if conditions make a session unsafe or unpleasant and reschedule.
