How safety works here

Clay shooting is a firearms sport, and we run it like one. This is what that means in practice.

A range officer on every shoot

Nobody shoots unsupervised on a first visit or a group day. The range officer's instruction is final and any of them may stop a shoot rather than let a rule slip.

Briefed before you touch a firearm

Every visitor is taken through the safety briefing at the clubhouse before going out. Nothing is assumed about what you already know.

Eye and hearing protection, always

Worn by everyone on or near the ranges, including spectators. It is fitted for you before you go out.

Rules published, not filed away

The full range rules are below. Read them before you visit if you like — you will be taken through them anyway.

Range rules

1.Every visitor signs in at the clubhouse and completes an indemnity form before going out to the ranges.
2.Firearms are carried open and unloaded everywhere except on the stand.
3.A shotgun is loaded only on the stand, only when instructed, and only pointed downrange.
4.Eye and hearing protection are worn by everyone on or near the ranges, including spectators.
5.No alcohol before or during shooting. Anyone who has been drinking will not be allowed on a range.
6.A range officer's instruction is final. Any range officer may stop a shoot at any time.
7.Under-18s shoot only with a parent or guardian present.
8.Cartridges and broken clays are picked up before you leave the stand.
9.Dogs, children and spectators stay behind the stand line at all times.
10.Report any malfunction, misfire or unsafe act to a range officer immediately.
