Trap
Trap is the most straightforward of the clay disciplines and the one most first-timers shoot. You stand at one of five positions behind a low trap house, call for the target, and a single clay is thrown away from you at speed and at an angle you cannot predict.

Why people shoot it
Because the target travels away rather than across, the lead you need is small and forgiving. It is the fastest discipline to feel competent at, which is why we put most beginners on it.
The detail
- Four trap ranges on site, so there is almost always one free.
- Shot as five stations of five targets, twenty-five clays to a round.
- Rewards a steady stance and an unhurried gun mount more than quick reflexes.
